For those who use Windows XP, you can do this by right-clicking on the desktop, choosing Properties, selecting the Appearance tab, clicking the Effects option and deselect Use the following transition effects for menus and tooltips, then Select OK.
> Speed up Windows Start Up by cleaning out the programs you dont use at start-up. For Windows 98 users, you can do this by going to Start and clicking Run. Type in MSConfig.exe and hit OK button Hit the Start up tab then unmark the programs you want to disablethroughout the startup. As you see, you may be able to speed start up Windows if you decrease the programs and applications that your computer needs to load.
> Defrag may be an old school process but it doesnt fail to help anyone who has speed problems. search for the defrag option under your System Tools menu from the Accessories or Start Tab. Make sure that you provide a time for defragging. Operating various applications as the same time as defragging restricts the process itself.
> Choosing to install your software is recommended if you frequently encounter script and other minor errors. Always scan your PC for viruses before backing up any files. In addition, make sure that you have a copy of your hardware drivers and program installers before trying to delete the contents of your hard drive Reinstalling your software takes at least an hour or so
> Removing programs that you do not use. Applications, whether you are utilizing them or not, take up space in your hard disk. If you arent using them, then is there still a need to keep them?
